The STASIS 7.0 is a compact version of our more powerful STASIS 8.0, yet it sacrifices nothing when it comes to revelation of nuance and inner
detail. While its outer appearance may suggest an obsession with solidity and power, the 7.0 shows its true sonic character in the listening room,
where it is a sweet and detailed reproducer of music.
This is not to overlook the 7.0’s capabilities in the areas of bass extension, quickness, and slam; its credentials in these areas are
formidable, and immediately apparent. Still, the most noteworthy aspect of the 7.0’s performance is its gentle and honest reproduction of musical
subtleties. In this respect, it is arguably the best stereo amplifier of its power rating that Threshold has ever produced.
In fact, its ability to reproduce transient attack and to resolve
complex musical passages surpasses that of even our acclaimed
T-series and e-line. The STASIS 7.0 delivers high current, employs
minimal feedback, and uses an updated version of the front-end of the
famous T200 along with the latest incarnation of our classic STASIS
output topology. As with all STASIS products the amplifier is
direct coupled input to output, with no capacitors in the signal
path, utilizes close tolerance metal film resistors and matched
JFETs, and employs a substantial power supply built around a massive
custom toroidal power transformer, with separate power reserves for
voltage and current gain stages.
High current capability, the importance of which is often left undiscussed, is
something the STASIS 7.0 truly delivers in real-world terms. Able to provide staggering amounts of continuous current, the 7.0 can drive the most
demanding loudspeaker loads, without strain or stress. In this regard, not surprisingly, it is the heir to Threshold’s legacy of high current,
no-holds-barred performance. The carefully balanced integration of the best elements of classic Threshold products, together with-the-fruits of
constant investigation and innovation specifically for this new generation of STASIS amplifiers, means that it is no longer necessary to choose between
power for dynamic contrasts and resolution of fine inner detail. Dynamic range and subtle shadings are rendered with an unmistakable sense of truth and fidelity to the
source that is truly remarkable. The STASIS 7.0 has raised Threshold’s acclaimed design philosophy to an unprecedented level—and that itself is a
statement-on-the-art.
